Investment portfolio April 2026 chart

Quick Overview

April 2026 became a month of epic recovery after March correction. Portfolio grew by +23.22% (+$4,675.63 CAD) thanks to:

  1. Iran Ceasefire (April 10) โ€“ markets soared
  2. Sold ALL Celestica (+444.84% profit) โ€“ locked in $4,083.6 CAD
  3. Deposited $1,500 CAD โ€“ largest ever
  4. Created own “drones ETF” โ€“ 9 new positions
  5. Earnings season โ€“ NVIDIA and AMD beat expectations

Biggest Events of the Month:

  • ๐Ÿ•Š๏ธ US-Iran Ceasefire (April 10) โ€“ S&P +4.5%, Nasdaq +6.8%
  • ๐Ÿ’ฐ Sold ALL Celestica (10 shares) โ€“ +444.84% profit ($4,083.6 CAD)
  • ๐Ÿ’ต Deposit $1,500 CAD โ€“ largest top-up
  • ๐Ÿš Created “drones ETF” โ€“ AVAV, DPRO, RCAT, KTOS, MDA, PNG
  • ๐Ÿš— Bought 150 UBER shares โ€“ on dip ($11.3 CAD)
  • ๐Ÿ“Š Earnings: NVIDIA +12%, AMD +36% revenue growth
  • ๐Ÿ›ข๏ธ Oil fell from $108 to $92-98 (volatile)

๐Ÿ•Š๏ธ Iran Ceasefire: From Panic to Euphoria

What Happened in April

April 10, 2026 โ€“ US and Iran announced temporary ceasefire. Markets reacted with explosive growth.

Market Reaction:

  • S&P 500: +4.5% for the week
  • Nasdaq: +6.8% for the week (13 days of growth in a row!)
  • Dow: +3.9% for the week
  • Oil: -8% (from $108 to $99)

But:

Experts warned: “Investors are misreading the news.”

Why?

  1. Ceasefire is temporary โ€“ supposed to end April 22
  2. Strait of Hormuz closed โ€“ traffic = 0
  3. Iran gives no guarantees on nuclear program
  4. Trump threatened bombing if no deal

Matt Gertken (BCA Research):

“The market believes this is like ‘Liberation Day’ โ€“ that Trump can raise the temperature and lower it at the perfect time. But we may be in a different situation because Iran was attacked, and they have a higher pain threshold.”

What Happened Next:

  • April 18-20: Ceasefire under threat of collapse
  • April 21: Markets -0.6% on fears
  • April 22: Trump extended ceasefire
  • Oil: Rose again to $92-98

Conclusion:

Ceasefire is temporary relief, not a solution. Volatility remains high.

๐Ÿ’ฐ BIGGEST EVENT: Celestica Sale (+444.84%)

Sale Details

Sold: ALL 10 shares Celestica (CLS)
Sale Price: 2 shares at $500 CAD + 8 shares at $500.2 CAD
Total Sale Amount: ~$5,002 CAD

Bought at: $91.8 CAD (August 2023)
Profit: +444.84% (~$4,083.60 CAD profit)
Held: 2 years 8 months

Why I Sold

1. Perfect Profit

Celestica was my largest position (19.67% of portfolio in March) and best investment ever.

Growth:

  • April 2025: Bought at $91.8 CAD
  • November 2025: Peak +423%
  • December-February: Drop to +312%
  • March: Recovery to +327%
  • April: Sold at +444.83%
  • Held: 1 year

+444.83% in a year. This is FANTASTIC.

2. Profit-taking is part of strategy

I remember the lesson from GSY (from +30% to -75%):

Don’t wait for absolute maximum. Lock in profits when you have them.

+444.83% is more than I dreamed of. Time to take money off the table.

3. Portfolio Diversification

CLS was almost 20% of portfolio. That’s too much for one company, even a quality one.

4. Opportunity to Return

If CLS significantly drops (to $300-350 CAD), I can buy again. This isn’t “goodbye forever” but “see you at a better price.”

Emotions of the Sale

Do I regret it? NO.

Even if CLS continues to $600-700, I won’t regret:

  • Got $4,083 CAD profit
  • Freed capital for new opportunities
  • Reduced concentration risk

Lesson: Greed is the investor’s enemy. +444% is excellent. Be grateful and move on.

๐Ÿš Creating Own “Drones ETF”

In April, I created own thematic portfolio of companies related to drones, defense, and critical infrastructure. I understand this is high-risk. These are small companies with high volatility but great growth potential. I see three scenarios: worstโ€”all companies go bankrupt, acceptableโ€”some fail and others cover losses with growth, bestโ€”all these companies grow.

Why Drones?

  1. Ukraine War showed: drones are the future of war
  2. Iran used drones against US/Israel
  3. Demand for military drones growing exponentially
  4. Commercial drones also growing (delivery, inspections)

My “Drones ETF” โ€“ 9 companies:

1. ๐Ÿš AVAV (AeroVironment) โ€“ 2 shares at $196.54 USD

What they do: Military and commercial drones
Clients: Pentagon, US Army
Investment: $393 USD
Current Return: -5.87%

Why I bought:

AeroVironment is leader in small military drones. Their Switchblade and Puma are used by US military and NATO.

Company benefiting from increased defense budgets due to Ukraine and Iran.

2. ๐Ÿš DPRO (Draganfly) โ€“ 60 shares at $8.01 CAD

What they do: Commercial drones for medicine, security
Investment: $481 CAD
Current Return: -10.36%

Why I bought:

Draganfly is Canadian company making drones for medicine, agriculture, security.

Microcap (small company) but with growth potential.

3. ๐Ÿš RCAT (Red Cat Holdings) โ€“ 20 shares at $11.91 USD

What they do: Military drones
Investment: $238 USD
Current Return: -5.22%

Why I bought:

Red Cat makes small reconnaissance drones for US military. Company received several Pentagon contracts.

4. ๐Ÿ›ก๏ธ KTOS (Kratos Defense) โ€“ 4 shares at $61.22 USD

What they do: Unmanned systems, missiles, cyber defense
Investment: $245 USD
Current Return: +1.50%

Why I bought:

Kratos is defense contractor making unmanned aircraft, target missiles, and cyber defense systems.

Winner from increased military budgets.

5. ๐Ÿ›ฐ๏ธ MDA (MDA Space) โ€“ 9 shares at $44.01 CAD

What they do: Space technologies, satellites, robotic systems
Investment: $396 CAD
Current Return: -4.57%

Why I bought:

MDA is Canadian space giant. Makes satellites, robotic arms for ISS, radars.

Space + defense = powerful combination.

6. ๐Ÿค– PNG (Kraken Robotics) โ€“ 40 shares at $8.07 CAD

What they do: Underwater drones and robotic systems
Investment: $323 CAD
Current Return: -7.68%

Why I bought:

Kraken Robotics makes underwater drones for military and commercial purposes (search, inspections, reconnaissance).

Unique niche with great potential.

7. ๐Ÿ“ก ONDS (Ondas Holdings) โ€“ 25 shares at $10.46 USD

What they do: Wireless networks for drones and critical infrastructure
Investment: $262 USD
Current Return: -2.40%

Why I bought:

Ondas makes communication networks for drones, railways, and critical infrastructure.

Without communication, drones don’t work. This is the “picks and shovels” of drone revolution.

8. โ›๏ธ COPX (Global X Copper Miners ETF) โ€“ 9 shares at $82.11 USD

What they do: ETF of copper mining companies
Investment: $739 USD
Current Return: -3.60%

Why I bought:

Copper is critical metal for:

  • Electric vehicles (EV)
  • Renewable energy
  • AI data centers
  • Electrification

Demand growing, supply limited. COPX is simple way to get exposure.

9. ๐Ÿš— UBER โ€“ 150 shares at $11.3 CAD

What they do: Rideshare, food delivery, logistics
Investment: $1,695 CAD (largest new position)
Current Return: fluctuating near 0

Why I bought:

UBER isn’t about drones, but I bought it on deep dip.

After March correction, Uber fell to $11.3 CAD. This was opportunity.

Long-term thesis:

  • Rideshare remains strong
  • Uber Eats growing
  • Autonomous taxis (future)

Result: fluctuating near 0.

“Drones ETF” Summary

Total Investment: ~$4,800 USD/CAD
Number of Companies: 9
Average Return: +-10%

Strategy:

This is long-term bet for 3-5 years. Drones and defense are megatrend of next decade.

Some companies will disappear, some will double/triple. This is diversified bet on theme.

๐Ÿ’ก April Lessons

What Worked โœ…

1. Celestica Sale (+444.84%)

Best decision of the month. Locked in $4,083.6 CAD profit.

Lesson: Don’t wait for absolute peak. Lock in profits when they’re large.

2. $1,500 CAD Deposit at Right Time

Added money after correction when prices were low.

Lesson: Buy after drops, not at peaks.

3. Creating “drones ETF”

Diversified bet on megatrend. Even if half the companies fail, others can double.

Lesson: Thematic investing works if diversified.

4. Buying UBER at Bottom

Company has good results, but investors fear Tesla’s “cybertaxi” will destroy competitors using traditional taxis. Hope Uber has viable plan.

Lesson: “Be greedy when others are fearful.”

What Can Be Improved ๐Ÿ“š

1. Too Many Positions

After April, I have 35+ positions. Too many for effective management.

Plan: Continue portfolio cleanup.

2. GSY โ€“ Still Holding

-78.79%, and I still haven’t sold. Why? Don’t see point in selling anymore. Hope for recovery and dividends.

Plan: Continue monitoring.

๐Ÿ“ May 2026 Plans

  1. Monitor Iran ceasefire โ€“ will it last?
  2. Think about quantum stocks.
  3. Portfolio cleanup โ€“ reduce to 25-28 positions
  4. Monitor “drones ETF” โ€“ which companies growing?
  5. No major changes โ€“ let portfolio “breathe”

๐ŸŽฏ April Conclusions

April 2026 โ€“ month of triumph:

  • โœ… Sold Celestica with +327%
  • โœ… Portfolio +23.22%
  • โœ… Created “drones ETF”
  • โœ… Bought UBER at bottom
  • โœ… ROI reached +56.50%

Key Lessons:

  1. Lock in large profits โ€“ don’t wait for absolute peak
  2. Buy after corrections โ€“ best prices after panic
  3. Thematic investing works โ€“ if diversified
  4. Emotional discipline

Ahead โ€“ May.

Markets volatile, but long-term thesis unchanged:
AI, semiconductors, drones, copper, nuclear energy โ€“ megatrends of the decade.

And I’m staying in the game. ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿš€
